did your stock xbox dvd drive crap out on you and u have all your games on DVD-R or DVD-RW? do u have a spare dvd-rom or dvd-rw lying around? you've come to the right place

 

OR: do u have a working xbox with a working dvd drive BUT want to play CD-Rs (because CD-Rs are incompatible with the standard drive)? you've come to the right place.

 

 

Tools Required

 

*modded xbox

 

*dvd-rom or dvd-rw drive (the one that has an eject button on there)

 

*Y molex connector (one end has a male and the other end has 2 females)

Step One: Setup

 

*set your dvd drive to SLAVE mode with the jumpers

 

*open your xbox

 

Step Two: Connecting the Wires

 

*plug the Y molex connector into the connector that connects the hdd

 

*one end goes back into the hdd and other end goes into your NEW dvd-rom

 

*remove the IDE cable thats connected to the STOCK dvd-rom and reconnect it to your NEW dvd-rom

 

SIDENOTE: you CANNOT play original xbox games with your NEW dvd-rom.

 

SIDENOTE: for those whose dvd-rom crapped out, you can try putting it into the dvd caddy but you would have to remove the black tray that hides the dvdrom in the front so you can access the eject button
